Dear Susan and Haven and Eric,

Im so so sorry, and sad, you have my deepest sympathies and feelings of support and love.

Dennis was a GREAT Man. He was my favorite Teacher and my best Mentor. He changed my life in ways, I have tried to do business with Art and a Gallery in imitation of your business model. He was the most Interesting and Authentic Artist I know. He had the most information and nicest way of giving it and sharing it with others (students) We did our company Quiet Shadows Inc. and it started on his presses doing blind embossing cards and selling them on the steps of the Union in Madison, Wisconsin. I enjoyed just hanging out with him and listening and watching. I learned so much from him; how to build custom work tables, set up the workflow, mixing inks and selecting papers. He was the complete package. He was a Great person, husband, and father, and friend to so many. he was a designer and architect and builder and Zen Master Artist, Humble yet profoundly confident in his skills and insight into people and the nature of creativity and inspiration. I found him very WISE, Powerful, Generous and Honest. He was spiritually evolved and very advanced so I don't worry for him as im sure he is Peaceful now and still laughing. when I was 21, I got to spend 10 weeks at Oxbow, he made the experience really fun and really professional. He showed me that Art was a viable career and worthy pursuit. He is the only professor I have wanted to stay in touch with all these years- and I will miss him very much. he was like my big brother and uncle. I feel blessed to have been his friend. I will plant some trees for him and you all.
Peace and Love,
Jeffrey Rutledge, Dayton , Ohio
