Dennis R McWilliams August 6, 1924 - June 8, 2007 Dennis McWilliams, 64, died unexpectedly on Friday June 8th, 2007 at Edgerton Hospital and Health services, He was born in Watertown, WI, on August 6th, 1942, son of Glenn and Lillian(Kutz)McWilliams. He married Susan Hunt-Wulkowicz March 14th 1981, in Chicago IL. Dennis graduated from Janesville High School in the class of 1960. He attended UW Whitewater and received his degree in Art from UW Madison. Dennis. talent in art and printmaking processes, combined with his encouraging nature, produced a teacher of uncommon excellence. The places he taught include: Ox-Bow Summer School of Painting, Saugatuck MI; University of Illinois, Circle Campus, Chicago; Columbia College, Chicago; Chicago Academy of Fine Art; Wayne State University, Detroit MI; and the North Shore Art League, Winnetka IL. In 1980 with his future wife Susan Hunt-Wulkowicz, he established the Chicago Center for the Print, which represented 175 printmakers and educated the public about original printmaking. It was the largest facility of its kind in the country. In 1989 they moved to rural Janesville to raise their young daughter, Haven, born in 1985. Here they established a new home for McWilliams Press and Hunt-Wulkowicz Graphics, concentrating on publishing and producing Susan's work. Though a master printer in both etching and lithography, Dennis was a multitalented man, equally comfortable designing and completing building or remodeling projects for family, friends, and church. He was always ready to lend a sympathetic ear for anyone in need and had a great love for his family, young and old, his extended family of friends. Dennis was known for his hearty good-natured laugh, which, combined with his full beard made him a real life Santa to children everywhere. Dennis was a big man with and even Larger than Life heart. He was a member of the Fulton Church and UW Madison Alumni Association. Surviving are his wife, Susan Hunt-Wulkowicz McWilliams of Janesville; children: Haven (James) McWilliams, Eric Wulkowicz, Korin (Maurice) Mattei, and Jason(Molly) Wulkowicz; three grandchildren: Malcolm, Alexander and Louisa; his mother, Lillian McWilliams; brother, Glenn(Linda) McWilliams; sister Patricia (Russell) Dodd. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn McWilliams. |
